Message	"a tank" is never really the actual 19.5 gallons The light comes on with as much as 5.5 gallons of fuel left. Even at 15mpg that's 75 miles. I have personally driven over 85 miles with the light on. So when you say "a tank" it could vary by a lot, therefore varying your mileage a lot. Figure out how much fuel you are actually using then contrast and compare.
